• Every number in the EXAMPLE files belongs to a made-up business; it isn't a market rate or a recommendation.
• Templates aren't legal advice. Have your own professionals review them.
• The tools help you run your business; they don't guarantee income or results.
• Cleaning medical or dental offices can bring extra requirements (for example OSHA bloodborne-pathogens training and EPA-registered disinfectants used as the label directs). This kit doesn't cover them; check what applies to you.
• Licensing: many states and localities require a license for electrical, plumbing, gas or HVAC work, or for jobs over a dollar amount. Offer only the work you're allowed to do where you work.
• Fertilizer, weed control and other pesticide work: many states require a license to apply these products for hire. Only quote that work if you hold the license your state requires.
• Texting or emailing clients: message only people who gave you their number or email, honor every STOP or unsubscribe request right away, and get a client's written consent before sending marketing texts with an automated tool. Marketing emails need your postal address and an unsubscribe option (CAN-SPAM). Some states, including Virginia, add rules such as allowed texting hours. This isn't legal advice.
• If your work is a licensed profession (for example accounting, legal, financial, engineering or health services), extra licensing, engagement-letter and disclosure rules may apply. These templates don't cover them.
• The tax set-aside is a % you choose, not a tax calculation. Ask a tax professional what to set aside and when to pay estimated taxes.
• Some states and cities, including New York and Illinois, have freelance worker laws with written-contract and payment-timing rules. The payment terms clauses are a template to have an attorney review.
• This is a cash-basis bookkeeping tool, not tax or accounting advice; the tax set-aside is a savings guide, not a tax calculation. Ask a tax professional what applies to you.
• Employment rules (forms such as Form I-9 and W-4, state new-hire reporting, pay-transparency, posters, workers' comp) differ by state and city. The checklists are general reminders, not a complete list, and the offer letter is a template to have an employment attorney review.
• This kit doesn't decide whether someone is an employee or a contractor.
• Never store passwords, PINs, full account numbers or recovery codes in these files; record where they're kept, not what they are.
